Oh hello there February! How did you get here so quickly? These “slow” winter months are moving along awfully quickly. Summer is going to be here before we know it!

Good news! We passed our final building inspections last week. That means we are one step closer to getting the shop up and running. We are so excited for our little cheese counter inside Catboat Coffee Co.

Image of the exterior of Catboat Coffee Co., a specialty beverage and culinary destination on Martha's Vineyard, and home to the Martha's Vineyard Cheesery cheese counter!
We love our Shoppy Shop home. Getting so close to opening!

Some cheesy offerings that have been bumping around the internet lately. Listed out just for you:

🧀 “Topics I plan to tackle include history, climate, environment, labor, colonization, culture, identity, and more as they relate to dairy.” Yes please! Alexandra Jones’ newsletter Milkfed is out in the world and I highly suggest you subscribe! (Milkfed)

🧀 This playful/sassy critique of specialty shops (dubbed “Shoppy Shops”) made me feel some kinda way. Personally, I’m livin’ and dyin’ by the Shoppy Shop! I’m all-in, for better or for worse. Hopefully for better! (GrubStreet)

🧀 I really enjoyed the perspectives shared in this article from cheese-writer Amy Sherman. It includes interviews with a cheesemaker, a cheese importer, and a cheesemonger. Let’s make 2023 the cheesiest year yet! (Cheese Professor)

🧀 Two cool Trevors had a lot of fun this past week at Poco Farm in Ojai, California. My brother Trevor attended Trevor Warmedahl’s first ever Sour Milk School! I’m so happy they got to curd-nerd out together.

It feels like we are a few weeks away from opening the shop. Thanks for sticking with us throughout this process!
