Here we are in January 2025. Almost February, in fact! I for one feel like I’m hanging on for dear life. The internet feels like a weird place these days, and yet I still feel compelled to create silly/educational cheese content and look for ways to connect with the cheese community online.

I’m going to try something a little different, that will hopefully inspire me to keep seeking cheesy news and information to share. In addition to posting on the MV Cheesery blog, I’m going to start pushing out my musings on Substack. It seems like the hot new place that everyone is flocking to on the internet so flock I shall. So, now all my musings and MV Cheesery updates will live on the blog and will be emailed out via Substack. Does this feel a little redundant? Yes. But hey, why not try something new?

Plus, I’ve been wanting to post more and maybe this will give me some accountability. I currently have four draft blog posts for recaps of all my Vermont travel that happened this past September. Maybe this will inspire me to actually get those cool recaps out into the world!

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for sticking around. Here are some other cheesy links I’ve been digging this week:

🧀 A very cool on-island cheese event! Grey Barn is hosting a Cheese Club! Cheese Tasting with Cheesemaker Rachel Kleine on Saturday, February 8th, 3PM-5PM. I’m so bummed I’m going to be off-island that weekend! Gah! (The Grey Barn and Farm)

🧀 Educational cheese whiz, Alexandra Jones, gave a presentation at this past year’s American Cheese Society conference about her DZRA research: the effects of climate change on the cheese industry. Here’s some highlights as reported by Quality Assurance Mag. Listen up, folks! (QA Mag)

🧀 The brilliant cheese-heads at the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin have released their 2025 Cheese Trend predictions. I am particularly excited about Trend #3 that they identified: Nurturing Meaningful Connections. This is so aligned with the mission of MV Cheesery! Yes! (Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin)

🧀 Ok confession time… I love reading romance novels. Anyone else? I can’t be alone here! Well, have a look at these worlds colliding! I was recently alerted to “Why Cheese?” a romance novel where hunky men transform into hunks of cheese… It’s going to be absolutely ridiculous but I think I have to read it? (Amazon)
